A little bit of egg on my face

As i was preparing to talk about how like on Facebook the lion king musical simply out does the beer and cider festival on twitter also I may have jumped the gun slightly.

To my surprise in terms of followers and tweets the two events are extremly close with the Beer and Cider festivals organiser CAMRA actually edgeing ahead in terms of all round followers

What the hell? Well after being slightly thrown back i then thought i would try to find the average age of a twitter user in the UK and see if this could explain. The more i thought about it the more it made common sence particular when you realise the age of the biggers users and most followed in the UK such a Steven Fry and ITVs Jonathan Ross. These people arent exactly young guns

According to the telegraph "45 to 54-year-olds are 36 per cent more likely than average to visit Twitter, making them the highest indexing age group, followed by 25 to 34-year-olds, who are 30 per cent more likely." More information is on the telegraph website itself with the actual page being http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/twitter/5147827/Middle-aged-are-driving-Twitters-success.html

As we have learned from KMR software CAMRAS target audience was mainly the late 30s to 50s crowd which would explain this twitter activity and that twitter is more easily accessible on the move. Furthermore as one pay to sign up to become a member of CAMRA and the fact that twitter is free may encourage people to follow as they dont have to pay £20 per year but still get information.

Next i will be trying to go more in depth about marketing theory and uploading my photos from London
